What We Can Learn from the Story of Adam (AS)

Allah discusses the story of Adam and Eve in the Quran. It contains many benefits for the average Muslim, and we can learn much from it. Allah created Adam from clay and breathed life into him. After this, He instructed the angels to bow down to Adam.

Story of Adam and Eve in the Quran

All of them obeyed. However, Iblees was one who refused to obey Allah. He was too arrogant, and since he was created from fire, he thought himself superior to prophet Adam’s story. Adam and Eve lived in Paradise with Allah’s permission. He told them to enjoy His bounties but warned them against touching the forbidden tree. It was this point that Iblees seized upon. He saw a chance to mislead people, and he did just that, whispering evil thoughts to Adam and Eve.

Eventually, Adam and Eve gave in and ate from the forbidden tree. Immediately, their private parts were exposed, which they tried to cover with tree leaves. Immediately, they repented to Allah. While He forgave them, He also told them to go and live on Earth until they died.

This story shows us the futility of arrogance. Iblees was arrogant and gained Allah’s wrath as a result. It also shows us that we may always be aware of Satan’s plan. Lastly, it shows us that we must turn to Allah in repentance.

Forbidden tree

God gave Adam the ability to identify and designate names to everything; He taught him language, speech and the ability to communicate.  God imbued Adam with an insatiable need for and love of knowledge.  After Adam had learned the names and uses for all things God said to the Angels…

“‘tell me the names of these if you are truthful.’  They answered ‘Glory be to You, we have no knowledge except what You have taught us.  Verily it is You the All Knower, the All Wise.’” (Quran 2:31-32)

“‘O Adam!  Inform them of their names,’ and when he had informed them of their names, He said:  Did I not tell you that I know the unseen in the heavens and the earth, and I know what you reveal and what you have been hiding?” (Quran 2:33)

The Angels were given no specific knowledge or freedom of will, their sole purpose being to worship and praise God.  Adam, on the other hand, was given the ability to reason, make choices and identify objects and their purpose.

Prophet Adam (AS) Death

As the prophet Adam (p.b.u.h)’s death was approaching, he had a desire to eat the fruits of Heavens. When his children went out to look for them, the angels told them to go back to see their father because he was dying. When Eve saw the angel of death, she recognized him and, frightened, she went to Adam.

All of them will be united to call to worship Allah (s.w.t) alone. Adam (p.b.u.h) closed his eyes and the angels gathered in his room to surround his body. When he recognized the angel of death, he smiled. The angels took his soul and wrapped it. They prayed for him at his grave, where he was buried.

Conclusion

This modern view of many theologians that Adam is a myth ultimately has nothing to do with the ambiguity of Scripture because the Bible clearly views Adam as a historical figure. Instead, it is driven by a desire to syncretize evolutionary thinking with the Bible.

Moreover, the objections given by theologians to a historical Adam are all based on fanciful eisegesis of the biblical Book Prophet Moses story has been much debated and not exegesis

Another significant thing that Muslims should know about Prophet Muhammad PBUH Life in this fact that he condemned racism and tribalism.

In his famous last sermon on the mount of Arafāt, the Prophet peace be upon him said that “All the human race is from Adam and Eve. There is neither superiority for an Arab on a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority on an Arab; Also, a there is no superiority for a white man on a black and not black has superiority over a white.”

In one of the battles when the immigrants and ansār apparently came to a conflicting position, the Prophet disgraced that division and said: “Leave it as it is fetid.”
